The Opportunity with McKinstry

Embark on an exhilarating journey with McKinstry! We're hiring for a Director of Business Technology Products to champion our ventures in Energy, Technical Services, and Construction. Based out of our vibrant Seattle, WA Headquarters, this hybrid position will have the opportunity to shape the future of our Product Management division while mentoring and developing an expanding team.

As the Director of Business Technology Products, you will be at the forefront of shaping the strategic direction and execution of our product management initiatives, playing a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation across our diverse portfolios. Collaborating closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, you will have the opportunity to define and prioritize product roadmaps that align with our overarching business objectives and market needs. Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Serve as strategic partner in business technology solutions for Energy, Technical Services, and Construction LOBs, collaborating with LOB leaders to define and drive product vision and strategy.

  • Manage and maintain LOB portfolio product roadmaps, identifying customer pain points, converting them into user stories, and prioritizing them effectively.

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of the product portfolio from inception to end-of-life, including modifications, upgrades, and maintenance.

  • Champion a data-driven and market-informed vision and plan that aligns with McKinstry's broader objectives.

  • Develop and maintain compelling business cases that demonstrate the rationale for continued investment, bridging business goals, user needs, and feasibility.

  • Lead the design, delivery, and management of large strategic projects with executive visibility and multiple critical dependencies.

  • Continuously evaluate product and feature performance against goals, develop improvement recommendations, and manage the enterprise business backlog.

  • Write Marketing Requirements Document (MRD) and Product Requirement Document (PRD) based on business needs, customer demand, and thought leadership.

  • Drive LOB innovation by performing and leveraging research to support product development and positioning.

  • Collaborate with Technology Partners to design solutions, estimate work effort, and deploy resources effectively, while actively pursuing integrations and partnerships.

  • Assist the Business in identifying and implementing best practices to measure success, including financial objectives, implementation schedules, and milestones.

  • Promote cross-team and cross-organizational knowledge sharing through forums such as user groups and design reviews.

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with LOBs, technology, and operations organizations to enable cross-functional collaboration.

  • Train, mentor, and manage staff to achieve team goals, and collaborate with recruiting staff to identify and assess potential additional talent.

  • Stay informed about trends important to our clients and LOBs, exploring and maximizing new solutions to meet evolving needs

  • Act as a steward of McKinstry technology solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • BA/BS degree, with a Masters degree as a plus

  • 5-10 years of experience in product management or construction software deployment

  • Experience with product management

  • Excellent project management skills; ability to present work to executive stakeholders

  • Clear, concise, and persuasive communication style that compels action

  • Track record of building product features based on solid user research and validation

  • Track record of building solutions for efficient business processes and customer experience needs

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems, automated data analytics, IoT, and machine learning technologies is a plus

  • Ability to lead high-performing, cross-functional team

  • Experience growing and developing talent

  • Ability to lead from within a product team and support as a servant-leader

  • Knowledge in modern software development methodologies, including Agile

  • Strong ability to teach others, mentor, and facilitate

T he pay range for this position is $123,570- $214,100 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
