GDIT is looking for a Network Engineer to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot deployable network systems for CENTCOM Commander while he travels worldwide for the USCENTCOM Information Technology Services (CITS) Program supporting the USCENTCOM J6 in Tampa, FL.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provide continuous support and implementation efforts for Continuity of Operations, Configuration Management, VoIP and VTC system deployment and expansion, new VoIP and VTC capabilities implementation, and VoIP and VTC system level II & III support and central management. Design and configure deployable and garrison secure data communication packages for NAVEUR and NATO members BYOD kits using vendor equipment as PACSTAR and Klas Telecom.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Commander’s Communications Kits provide unclassified (1) and classified (4) voice, video, and data networks anywhere there is Internet access: in air (military transport), mobile (ground vehicle), and on ground (static field locations). Kits consist of Router, Switch, and Type 1 encryption devices or Aruba Remote Access Point and a Type one encryption device.

• Provide guidance to the CCJ6-XC Government Lead on equipment needed to purchase to put together kits.

• Maintain and (lightly) troubleshoot Executive Communications Kits (ECK). Kits provide classified voice and video networks anywhere there is Internet access: in air (military transport), mobile (ground vehicle), and on ground (static field locations). Kits consist of Router and Type 1 encryption devices.

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Secure Video Teleconference (SVTC) kits. Also, maintain and trouble shoot VOIP phones

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Type 1 Encryption Devices.

• Configure and troubleshoot Aruba Controller for kits. Aruba Controllers are backend connection for Aruba RAP VPN hardware devices. Currently employing 6 Aruba Controllers.

• Provide 24 personnel training on all kits.

• Act as COMSEC Responsible Officer for work center. Issue COMSEC whenever team deploys on trip.

• Perform operational checks on all kits designated to go on trip before each trip.

• Monitor kits during trips.

• Maintain configuration control and configuration backup for the network to include use of Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) to emulate LAN Wide Area network architectures.

• Develop supplemental technical and procedural documents required for effective network and system administration.

• Perform lifecycle support serves that include installation, maintenance, and warranty coordination of network and system equipment.

• Maintain DOD standards for network security through use of DISA’s Security Technical Implementation Guides on all network equipment, to include maintaining asset posture on DISA’s Vulnerability Management System (VMS) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)

• Provide administrative task support such as Monthly Status Reports (MSRs), Weekly Status Reports (WARs) and meeting minutes.

Education and/or Certifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience; or an Associate’s degree at least 3 years of experience; or 4 years network administrator experience.

  • Cisco CCNA

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, or a related field of study

  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

  • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

Required Skills:

  • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

  • Network equipment experience may include Aruba RAPs, Cisco Routers (ASR and ISR), Cisco Switches (IOS, IOS-XE, and Catalyst), Cisco Firewalls (FTD and ASA), Riverbed Controllers

  • Quality interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to multitask and be organized.

  • Quality oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission

  • Knowledge and familiarity with USCENTCOM’s IT environment

Clearance Requirement:

Travel Requirements:

  • Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 50% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations

The likely salary range for this position is $113,050 - $152,950. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
