We are seeking a talented individual for the Total Population Management (TPM) Director of Risk Analytics role. This role serves as the conduit between the Software Product Business Owner(s) and clients as well as the Implementation/Development team(s). The person filling this role will support client services, implementations and serve as the voice of the business owner and customer to the implementation/development team. The person filling this role will proactively represents HMS’ Total Population Management agenda through the prioritization, management and execution of the product roadmap and backlog focusing the development team on a clear vision of the product, its goals and delivery.

The Director of Risk Analytics must have deep health care industry knowledge and experience in transforming software product strategic intent and value into requirements in the form of user stories, feature specifications and acceptance criteria. The Director of Risk Analytics will also articulate and drive product value delivery through the development lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Product Business Owner, clients and other stakeholders to identify, document, and evaluate product requirements and roadmaps

  • Works closely with Product Business Owner and other stakeholders to define product development strategies and sets long and short-term development/delivery goals

  • Models new approaches/concepts with the Product Business Owner and Development staff to ensure product features/functions are competitive and that clients are achieving value and that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals

  • Drives completion and execution of all technical and implementation work efforts required to accomplish objectives for product growth and successful performance in partnership with technical development/implementation teams

  • Works in conjunction with the Product Business owner, sales and account facing teams on product knowledge, timing of product releases and other business development and account management support

  • Analyzes how the product is performing (application performance, quality metrics, financial performance metrics, etc.) against client requirements so as to provide optimal solution and contract compliance

  • Supports sales efforts including contributing to proposals; may present product demos to key stakeholders

  • Work with new and current clients to ensure they know the “how”, “where”, “when” and “why” of the Elli application and the TPM suite

  • Develops Elli workflow and client-specific configuration to meet client business needs

  • Partners with the Implementation Team in the delivery of client training to ensure their business needs and optimal use of Elli are met

  • Provides updates to stakeholders as required

  • Contributes subject matter expertise to internal teams and external clients.

  • Develops epics, user stories and requirements in support of the product roadmap. Partners with technology business analyst(s) to review and approve detailed requirements

  • Provides input for incremental prioritization of development sprints

  • Leads user acceptance testing

  • Schedules and moderates routine meetings with stakeholders to review recent developments and plan/prioritize future activity.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Performs other functions as assigned

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports Total Population Management client facing activities and client services

  • Represents Total Population Management in broad organizational initiatives

  • Analyzes stakeholder and client feedback to prioritize features or components that will add the greatest value to the product

  • Analyzes client ROI for implemented product features

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10 years’ experience in Healthcare software delivery, particularly with healthcare insurers

  • 5 years’ experience in product management, product analysis, solutions development or a related field

  • 5 years client facing experience, dealing directly with clients to elicit requirements/needs to deliver on relative value proposition

  • Experience interacting with stakeholders, vendors and customers in delivery of technical solutions

  • Skills to systematically analyze situations and issues, identify options, draw logical conclusions and sound inferences, determine and recommend practical courses of action using innovation, creativity, good judgment and strategic thinking

  • Detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated success in building client relationships

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Information Systems or other relevant degree/experience. Masters preferred.


One or more of the following certifications is preferred.

  • CAHIMS or CPHIMS (HIMSS Certified Associate/Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems) - Desired

  • PAHM (AHIP Professional, Academy for Healthcare Management) - Desired

  • FAHM (AHIP Fellow, Academy for Healthcare Management) – Desired

  • MHP (AHIP Managed Healthcare Professional) – Desired

  • ITP (AHIP Information Technology Professional) – Desired

  • PHIAS or FHIAS (AHIP Professional/Fellow, Health Insurance Advanced Studies) – Desired

  • PMI-ACP (Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner) – Desired

  • Other relevant certification - Desired

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in Healthcare software delivery, particularly with healthcare insurers

  • 5 years’ experience in product management, product analysis, solutions development or a related field

  • 5 years client facing experience, dealing directly with clients to elicit requirements/needs to deliver on relative value proposition

  • 7 years high level product analysis experience preferably in the healthcare industry

  • Experience in product lifecycle
