Catholic Charities West Michigan Healthy Families Worker- Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids MI, Michigan

This position provides long term in home support services to pregnant women and families with infants and children under the age of three (3) focusing on information and education related to infant / child development and parenting.

 

Flexible work schedule after an initial training period that includes working in the office and out of the office.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accepts and processes referrals
  • Completes written service plan with families and establishes goals and objectives consistent with the HFA model
  • Serves clients compassionately and with dignity and respect
  • Provides referrals and advocacy to link families with the appropriate community resources.
  • Plans and participates in parent groups
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Child Development
  • Knowledge of Developmental milestones
  • Knowledge of Positive Discipline techniques
  • Ability to engage with diverse families
  • Ability to provide positive role-modeling
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage job duties, including timely completion of required paperwork
  • Ability to enter data into Program Management System
  • Ability to speak Spanish
Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child Development or a related field is required with a minimum of one year of related experience in child development and experience in working with infants, young children and their parents or families.

A High school diploma or equivalent is required with a minimum of one year of related experience in child development and experience in working with or providing services for infants, young children and their parents. 

 

Experience:

A minimum of one year of related experience in child development and experience in working with infants, young children and their parents or families.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

 

Infant Mental Health Endorsement preferred.
