POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is part of Asphalt Value Chain, Asphalt Technology East located in Findlay, OH and reports to the Asphalt Technology Director.

This position will play an integral role in the product development, commercial support, production, quality control, customer satisfaction, and economic optimization of Asphalt and Heavy Oil products. Products supported include Performance Graded Asphalt Binders, Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders, Emulsified Asphalts, Cutback Asphalts, Roofing Asphalts and Industrial Asphalts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will develop and maintain a high-level of technical expertise on asphalt and heavy oil products including their formulations, testing procedures, applications and use, modification techniques, rheological characteristics, chemistry, and performance.

  • Keep abreast of industry innovations and technical developments related to the characteristics and applications of asphalt paving and roofing materials.

  • Monitors product quality by developing and implementing quality control standards and procedures to ensure the manufacture of quality asphalt and heavy oil products from the refinery or terminal source through the transportation and distribution systems

  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset, utilizing technology and market trends to develop new products, optimize existing products, and improve existing processes, including the development of capital projects.

  • Responds to technical issues related to customer satisfaction concerning product specification and performance, product advantages and/or competition.

  • Works with external partners and builds and maintains relationships with government agencies and industry workgroups responsible for asphalt standards, specifications, and applications.

  • Collaborates with internal business partners, including Asphalt Marketing, Refining, Terminals, and Engineering to support optimal asphalt and heavy oil production through transportation, storage and sales.

  • Maintains the highest level of work practices in meeting Health, Environment & Safety goals and requirements.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required in the major discipline of either Engineering or Chemistry.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred.

  • Experience in Asphalt is highly preferred. Product Quality, Operations and/or Refining experience considered a plus.

  • Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment is required.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills is required.

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    This position will have moderate overnight travel expectations (15%).
