The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) is seeking a motivated and flexible individual to join our team in the Health Facilities Division as an Administrative Assistant 2 for the Acute and Continuing Care (ACC) Bureau.
Who We Are
DIA is a multifaceted regulatory agency charged with protecting the health, safety, and well-being of Iowans. DIA’s Health and Safety Division is responsible for inspecting and licensing health care providers and suppliers to ensure the health and safety of vulnerable Iowans.
The Administrative Assistant 2 position is responsible for assisting with the certification process for ACC surveys, the ACC facility licensure process, data collection for multiple purposes, including an internal dashboard, and coordination of stakeholder education.

To accomplish our Mission, the individual selected for this position will assist the Acute and Continuing Care Bureau staff and external stakeholders in a customer-service focused and professional manner.

The successful candidate for the fast-paced and multi-faceted Administrative Assistant 2 position is a self-starter interested in preforming a variety of tasks. The position reports directly to the ACC Bureau Chief. Desired qualifications include:

What You’ll Do
You will be an integral member of our team, providing direct support to the Department’s Health Facilities operations by:
Coordinating and monitoring certification activities for ACC facilities
Coordinating and monitoring ACC facility licensure applications and renewals
Assists with sending survey information to ACC Health Facilities Surveyors
Obtains medical records and vital records as needed for survey activities
Collects and monitors data
Coordinates requests for waivers to state rules
Coordinates educational publications and training opportunities
Provides administrative support to multiple leadership team members
Assists facility staff with database access

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support (e.g., screening visitors and callers; opening/distributing mail, typing/proofing documents, letters, and reports; organizing files; scheduling meetings/appointments; arranging travel; processing travel claims; ordering supplies/equipment) or technical support work (e.g., determining budget, personnel, and equipment needs; compiling/evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial or technical program data; interpreting or securing compliance with laws, rules and regulations; reviewing operating records/reports and evaluating their effectiveness).
A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as an Administrative Assistant 1.
