As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech you will:

  • Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.

  • Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.

  • Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.

Day to Day duties:

  • Scrub on all cases. Primarily, Specialize in Heart, Vascular, GEN, GYN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/ Sports Medicine), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Robotics (DaVinci XI) and Trauma.

  • Dedicated service teams for hearts and Vascular only. Associates are cross trained for all other services.

  • Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.

  • Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.

  • Maintain Sterile field during procedures.

  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs

  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.

Schedule:36hrs/ week- Days -3x 12-hour shifts-Friday, Saturday and Sunday 0630-1900.

No Call Required

Additional $10/hr weekend option differential applies for Saturday and Sunday shifts. The role does require a six-month commitment to the weekend option.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Two year of experience in a surgical setting, required.

  • Experience in a specialty field, preferred

  • Basic Computer skills, required.

  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program, required.

  • HS Diploma/GED required

  • BLS from the American Heart Association required

  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required

  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Surgery Department at Penrose Hospital has 16 OR suites and performs 30 – 40 cases per day. We specialize in heart, vascular, general, gynecology, urology, ortho, spine, neuro, plastics, robotics, and trauma procedures on adult patients only.
