The Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program (BU/LPP) supports 475 students from Binghamton, Susquehanna Valley, Johnson City and Chenango Forks School Districts each year. Full-time staff members dedicated to identifying and supporting students, are placed in each school to fully integrate the program's support services into the district.

LPP is funded by the Office of Access, Equity and Community Engagement Services of the New York State Education Department.

Duties:

  • Provide or arrange for access to services that support student academic success including tutoring, mentoring, study skill development, social skills development, home visits, college/career exploration, community service and enrichment.

  • Establish and work with the principals and the school based advisory committee to select students for participation, monitor and improve academic progress, conduct home visits and maintain family/teacher communication.

  • Provide counseling and case management for students and their families to link with necessary community support services.

  • Develop collaborative programming in school and community to support high academic expectations and achievement.

  • Manage data collection, assessment, record keeping and reporting for the school-based project in a timely manner.

  • Participate in district and building initiatives as recommended.

    Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree with concentration in counseling, social work, or other human services field with 1-2 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in public education settings; knowledge of social issues in the education of at-risk youth; excellent interpersonal skills; good organizational, record-keeping, verbal and written communication skills.

  • The candidate should have a background working with adolescents.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree

    Additional Information:

Salary: $40,000 - $47,000 annually.
