Amazon Software Development Engineer, Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Tech in Austin, Texas

Description

Amazon Emerging Marketplace Technology team is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to own the tech vision, strategy, and road map of one of the most important initiatives across Amazon. You will lead teams to build innovative technology web solutions that directly improve customer experience around the world and impact a multi-billion dollar business.

In this role you will:

  • Design new end-to-end features that bring shopping innovations to web and mobile

  • Build solutions that reach millions of new customers all over the world, providing them with a world class shopping experience in their local language, payments, and currencies

  • Work across all tiers leveraging Service-Oriented Architecture, mobile platforms, user experience, analytics and data mining

  • Drive customer experience technology for supporting customers all over the world.

  • Work closely with the business to define the expansion strategy and figure out innovative solutions to help this thriving business continue to its exponential growth

The Emerging Marketplace Technology team helps customers across the world gain access to the benefits of Amazon, including Prime, by delivering a localized shopping experience for them, including features tailored to their marketplace. Customers are able to shop for products in their language, using local currency and payment methods, and gain access to our worldwide selection via the Global Store. We provide customers with products sourced from local and international vendors and sellers, delivered quickly to their door and at competitive prices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
