TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Investigator (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

WHO WE ARE: The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is seeking several Investigators I - II to join the Benefit Payment Control (BPC) Department. These positions are based at a tele-center in El Paso, North Austin, San Antonio, McAllen or Fort Worth, Texas, and are available to work from home two days a week and in-office three days a week.

WHO YOU ARE: The ideal candidate must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Investigator I - II performs entry-level to routine investigative work. Work involves conducting investigations. Works under close to routine supervision, with minimal to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: - Conduct entry level to routine investigations to determine if Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefit payment was properly made. - Evaluate and summarize investigative findings. - Examine, review, and audit verify UI claim records. - Issue fraud/non-fraud and other non-monetary decisions as needed. - Use personal computer to data enter corrections, record decisions, and document case information to the Benefits System. - Respond to oral and written inquiries from claimants, employers, and agency staff to provide customer support in a busy work environment. - Review investigative techniques and recommend improvements as appropriate. - Work quickly, perform multiple tasks, pays attention to detail, and adheres to telephone schedules and strict deadlines. - Work in a highly stressful environment. - Perform heavy telephone contact with public utilizing strong interviewing and communication skills. - Treat customers with courtesy and respect - Handles hostile clients in a professional manner. - May participate in studies and projects. YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: - Recent Unemployment Insurance (UI) experience and knowledge of UI regulations - Investigation experience - Bilingual (Spanish/English)

YOU QUALIFY WITH: Investigator I: Successful completion of 90 semester hours of accredited college work. Investigator II: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Both: One year of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.

Duty requires the ability to lift 5-10pounds of papers and files.
