Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. About the Senior Field Technology Implementation Engineer Position

As a Senior Field Technology Implementation Engineer, you will provide advanced planning, design, provisioning, installation, configuration, and operation, of the Technology Department’s hardware, software, and related infrastructure in a complex matrixed Enterprise and OT environment. This position will also create and maintain documentation, to include but not limited to, site specific Drawing Packages, Engineering Drawings, Device Configurations, Inventory Lists, Bills of Materials, Dept. Standards, Dept. Processes, and Dept. Procedures, for all phases of the Field Technology Implementation Dept. tasks. The Senior Field Technology Implementation Engineer is responsible for researching, creating, and providing training for internal and external stakeholders with the intention of fostering an environment where education is a cultural focus. This role will be responsible for engaging, coordinating, and working alongside internal and external stakeholders daily to ensure project work is communicated appropriately and is efficiently executed.

  • Coordinate and lead information gathering, engineering, implementation, and support efforts for all Field Technology Implementation project field locations with Local Operations, Integrators, Subcontractors, and Field Technology Implementation team members.

  • Collaborate with Colonial’s Technology, Engineering, and Operations departments to develop and revise Standards, Practices, and Procedures for the Field Technology Implementation department.

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to gather information about Lessons Learned and design improvements.

  • Identify, research, build, and present training to Local Operations, Technology, Technical Services, Team Members, and Integrators that support implementation activities.

  • Identify skilled resources and access skill gaps to develop personal training plans.

  • Performance and expectations tracking and alignment with management.

  • Execute plans to address personal performance and or issues with core values.

  • Advise management and peers as needed to meet changing business demands.

  • Consult management on growth needs and mentoring team members.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Engineering focus, or other related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.

  • Ideally 5+ years of experience with increasing responsibility in the implementation, administration, and management of complex technology infrastructures.

  • Ideally 4+ years of Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Electrical Engineering experience.

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record to drive Company and personal vehicles for picking up materials, to get around large facilities in minimum time, and to travel to locations away from headquarter point.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Technical knowledge of networking for/in highly virtualized environments, hyper-converged platforms, hybrid, and cloud environments.

  • Enterprise networking, network security, ACI, SD-WAN, Cisco FirePower, Industrial Controls Systems, Operations Technology, Cisco Collaboration, VMWare networking, project management.

  • Certifications and/or Licensures: CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, VCTA, VCP, and/or ITIL

  • Experience in the oil and gas or related energy industry.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted. Ability to work in non-permit required confined spaces. Ability to traverse uneven terrain to reach secluded right-of-way. Ability to climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft. and tank steps as high as 60 ft. without assistance. Ability to verbally communicate by two-way radio, especially during emergency response. Normal visual acuity to perform duties of position. If vision is corrected, must be corrected to 20/40 or better. Must have ability to distinguish colors, especially red, green, white, yellow, cyan and black. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights and to analyze product colors. Ability to detect the presence of petroleum products by smell. Considered “Heavy Work” based on ADA physical standards. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products and heavy equipment.
